Degree Options

Choosing the right degree program for you is the first step to success in the Medical Laboratory Sciences Program. Whether you are seeking your first bachelor's degree or are a credentialed laboratory scientist looking to hone your skills, our program provides what you need to reach your professional goals.

Certificate in MLS

Our certificate program is designed for students who have already earned a BS/BA degree (or higher) and want to become eligible to sit for the Board of Certification (BOC) exam. The certificate program is also an option for current MLS students who are enrolled at one of our academic affiliate schools. These students can earn their first bachelor's degree at their home institution, while earning a certificate through our program.

Bachelor of Science in MLS

The BS in MLS is the degree plan for students who are earning their first (or second) bachelor's degree, and who are seeking to become eligible to sit for the Board of Certification (BOC) exam. Students have options on the point of entry into the program based on prerequisite course requirements completed.

Professional Master of Science in MLS (MMLS)

The MMLS degree meets the needs of students who already have a BS/BA degree (or higher) and are seeking the Medical Laboratory Science professional credential for employment in hospital laboratories. The MMLS plan provides the necessary coursework for Board of Certification (BOC) eligibility, as well as additional graduate coursework in molecular diagnostics and laboratory operations management.

NEW! Master of Science in Biomedical Laboratory Science (MS - BLS)

Our newest degree option is ideal for students who already have a Medical Laboratory Science professional credential. This master's program provides additional theory, research and practice knowledge in the field, and prepares candidates for specialty certifications in areas like Molecular Biology or Microbiology. This master's degree option reflects the interdisciplinary nature of laboratory practice and research with an emphasis on critical reasoning and innovative approaches to laboratory operations, leadership, research and evidence-based practice, as well as laboratory method development and validation.
