In 2008 the State of Minnesota through St. Paul College and partners in industry and academics was awarded one of five Department of Labor grants to address the shortage of laboratory personnel throughout the United States.  Part of the leverage which placed Minnesota at the top of this applicant pool is the interactive team of laboratory practitioners in the state.  The Health Education and Industrial Partnership (HEIP - now called Health Force Minnesota) Laboratory Task Force.  Members include faculty from the University of Minnesota (UMN); St. Cloud State; Argosy University, St. Paul College; North Hennepin Community College; South Central College; industry partners Allina Hospitals and Clinics; Fairview Healthcare System; HealthPartners; Health East; CentraCare; Essential Health; Children's Hospitals; and the Minnesota Department of Health; along with several laboratory professional organizations, ASCLS, ASCP, and CLMA.

The UMN MLS Program was awarded several projects as sub-awards from the DOL grant including the task of developing online interactive learning objects that can be shared with other laboratory practitioners as educational tools. In accordance with the requirements in the grant, we are providing public access to these modules.
